MISSION

 

SterileBits, Inc. was created with a goal of building the first comprehensive catalog of generic, sterile packaged, single use drill bits using a patented packaging solution.  With the high costs of treating surgical site infections and increasing regulations on reprocessed instruments, we feel the industry is headed toward single use surgical tool policies.

 

Likewise, the implant manufacturers are introducing into the market single use implant kits that contain a single implant, a few screws, and a few disposable tools.  SterileBits is poised perfectly to capitalize on this trend.  Supported by a packaging patent, the SterileBits line of surgical drill bits is a perfect off-the-shelf backup for when tools are lost, broken, or contaminated during surgery.

 

SterileBits plans to extend their product base to include other single use surgical tools giving hospitals and surgery centers access to a complete line of sterile Orthopedic Solutions.

FOUNDERS/OFFICERS

 

Jim Doty, Principal, Chief Business Development Officer

 

Mr. Doty has more than 30 years of healthcare experience and has specialized in management service organization (MSO) development, physician group practice management, primary care group practice development, mergers and acquisitions, and the myriad hospital/physician relationships. Most recently, Mr. Doty served as President and Chief Executive Officer for Instant Communications LLC, a business communications technology company which focuses on the development of handheld communication devices for physicians and their medical groups. In addition, Mr. Doty helped lead the growth and development of HealthCare Partners, LTD, one of the nation’s largest full-service, physician-owned medical groups, as the President of the management and consulting division. HealthCare Partners, LTD is responsible for 104 partners, 39 medical delivery site locations, centralized management and information systems and more than 1,500 contracted or employed physicians. Mr. Doty is a recognized speaker on healthcare issues from the physician’s point of view and holds a B.S Business Management degree from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA).

Phil Scott, CFA, Principal, Chief Financial Officer

 

Mr. Scott has twenty years of financial, valuation, corporate advisory, merger and acquisition and restructuring experience. In addition to his research and valuation work, he currently serves as the interim CFO for two public companies. Mr. Scott is a Chartered Financial Analyst designee. Mr. Scott has also served as the CFO for SurgiCare, Inc., PSX, Inc. and The Camden Group and has led these companies through successful restructuring and equity sales. Mr. Scott has also served as Vice President of Development for Health Care Partners, Ltd. and Heritage Provider Network, Inc., completing numerous acquisitions. He has an MBA (Summa Cum Laude) from the University of San Diego and a BS Degree in Chemical Engineering from California Institute of Technology.

Patrick G. Rogan, Vice-President and General Counsel

Mr. Rogan brings more than 40 years of legal experience in corporate, product liability,  litigation, medical devices and trials (over 100 jury trials to verdict) to SterileBits, Inc.  Upon joining he transitioned the firm from a California LLC to a Delaware C corporation.  Mr. Rogan has been active as an advisor in national manufacturing associations and prestigious trial groups.   He is a Fellow of the International Society of Barristers, a Fellow of the American Board of Trial Advocates with the rank of Advocate, a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, continually named as a Superlawyer over the past 10 years, a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, and recognized as AV Preeminent by Martindale Hubbell.   Mr. Rogan has handled cases in trial courts on behalf of manufacturers in many western states and prevailed in numerous cases in the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals and the California Supreme Court.  He has acted as a partner in a number of prestigious law firms including Lillick McHose, Pillsbury Winthrop and his own boutique firms.  In addition to his duties at SterileBits, Inc., Mr. Rogan acts as a mediator in high stakes litigation nationwide.

Stuart Taylor, Senior Vice President

With a background in sales, finance, and business creation, Stuart Taylor brings more than 35 years of experience to the SterileBits team.  He began his career and spent 20 years working as a Senior Vice President with Cushman Realty, working directly with John Cushman.  During this time, he negotiated hundreds of large commercial real estate leases and sale transactions. With sales over $10 billion, Stuart worked with Fortune 500 companies, law firms, and government agencies.  Mr. Taylor was consistently recognized as a Power Broker in the major commercial markets. Stuart is a co-founder and retains ownership in Mexpress Transportation, which is a large transportation company that specializes in In-bond freight to Mexico. The company was able to obtain a preferential in-bond authority that is utilized by large parcel delivery companies such as FedEx and UPS to name a few. In addition to his commercial pursuits and his success with transactions and business development, Mr. Taylor supports and is on the Board of several charities in the downtown Los Angeles area that focus on revitalizing communities and neighborhoods.

Craig Ford, Founder

 

Mr. Ford has 17 years of experience in medical device distribution for companies such as Zimmer Spine, Abbott Spine (an Abbott Laboratories company), and Spinal Concepts. Mr. Ford developed and directed teams that specialized in sales and surgical case coverage. His company managed the flow of inventory to and from manufacturers into hospitals. Mr. Ford has been involved in the development and regulatory approval process for new spinal implants, including the InFix stand-alone interbody device, Pathfinder MIS pedicle screw system, the AntCer dynamic cervical plate, and many others.  He has been involved in numerous clinical trials, cadaver lab surgeon training events, and doctor education programs.  Mr. Ford is the inventor of the SpineDriver® Inline Driver Kit, as well as the SterileBits® patented sterile drill bit packaging solution.
